How storytelling connects to safety

Presentation by: James Wood , Director, CNB Safe

CSG event video now available (members only)

James Wood (‘Woody’) had a job he loved and a great future as a diesel mechanic on mine sites. That was lost in a split second with an accident that left him in a wheelchair. Now he works hard to keep others safe.

On 11 June Woody shared with CSG his special insights and experience on how to get the safety message across from the workshop floor to the Board room.

This knowledge comes from visiting countless work sites, companies, and organisations, talking to them about the real impact of workplace injury.

Workplace mental health research findings
Research findings on the state of mental health in Australian workplaces will be discussed on October 8 by psychologist Daryan Rosic, Mental Health Programs and Initiatives Specialist at Allianz Insurance Australia. His talk will draw on several years of external research by Allianz, surveying over 12,000 employees and managers.
Daryan says today’s workforce is experiencing a profound shift towards greater diversity, due to globalisation, changing social dynamics and more inclusive hiring practices. Individuals from diverse backgrounds may face unique challenges and experiences related to mental health and psychosocial safety.
He will discuss how organisations and the work health and safety community can build inclusive environments that support the wellbeing and safety of all individuals, regardless of their backgrounds.

About the Speaker:

Daryan Rosic recently joined Allianz after working as an Occupational Psychologist with DXC Technology. Before that he worked with numerous employers as a psychologist involved in claims assessment and rehabilitation.
His current role includes developing new mental health programs and initiatives across Allianz's national personal injury portfolio, with both internal and external stakeholders.
In 2020 Daryan won a WorkSafe Victoria Excellence Award for Innovation in the Mental Health and Wellbeing space. The award recognised his delivery of a COVID-19 response for employers.
He holds a Bachelors degree, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters degree in Psychology from the University of Auckland.
